Nola.com: Industrial growth drives New Orleans economic outlook

Eric Smith

Eric Smith, professor of practice and associate director of the Tulane Energy Institute, was interviewed for a Nola.com story about the 2020-21 Louisiana Economic Outlook, a study published by Loren Scott and Gregory Upton Jr. that estimates New Orleans will see 19,500 new jobs over the next two years thanks to a flurry of industrial projects. Smith tells the website that while there may be some construction jobs, they’re not likely to have a major effect on the city of New Orleans.

“The jobs won’t be evenly distributed, those won’t be in Orleans Parish but growth in the small towns nearby.”
