WVUE Fox 8: Face Masks and Economic Projections

Amanda Heitz, assistant professor of finance, was interviewed by WVUE Fox8 News for a segment about the reintroduction of mask mandates in New Orleans in response to the delta variant of the coronavirus.
Wearing a mask is a very simple, small gesture that we can do to avoid larger economic disruptions. We know that masks are effective. What we need to do is come together and wear masks and try to keep this from getting worse, because ... if our hospitals fill up and we see case numbers reaching record highs, that may induce further lock downs or further economic disruptions.
