Venkat Subramaniam, Exxon Professor of Business and associate professor of finance, was honored as one of Poets & Quants for Undergrads' 2023 Top 50 Undergraduate B-School Professors. The list, based on a national survey of business schools, was published on Dec. 3.

Subramanian, who joined the Freeman School in 1994, was highlighted for his accessible and engaging presence in the classroom.

"He goes the extra mile in bridging the gap between textbook finance and finance in the real world," said student Avik Hegde (BSM '25). "By far one of the best business professors I've had at Tulane and I wish he could teach every finance class."

Subramaniam currently serves as director of the Freeman School's PhD program. He has previously served as associate dean for graduate programs and was instrumental in establishing the Master of Finance program.

Over the course of his career, Subramaniam has won numerous awards from the Freeman School for his teaching and research, including the Outstanding Young Researcher Award, the Howard W. Wissner Award, the James T. Murphy Teaching Excellence Award and the EMBA Professor of the Year Award. He also received the Inspirational Professor Award, a university-wide accolade, and the President's Medal for Teaching Excellence, Tulane University's highest university-wide award for teaching.
