Kyle Dove (BSM '25)

Name: Kyle Dove
Hometown: Houston, Texas
Major: Finance
Minor: Accounting
Post Graduation Plans: Burkenroad Reports with Peter Ricchiuti. This hands-on course took equity research beyond the textbook, challenging us to analyze a mid-cap firm in depth. We conducted rigorous financial analysis, interviewed management, and ultimately published a 40-page investment report—just like a sell-side research team. The real-world exposure and direct application of finance principles made this an invaluable and fun experience. I enjoyed it so much that I returned as an investment research manager.
Freeman Activities: Academic Learning & Tutoring Center (Business Analytics Supplemental Instructor), Tulane Innovation Institute (Venture Fund Analyst), Darwin Fenner Student Managed Fund (Portfolio Analyst), Burkenroad Reports (Investment Research Manager), Business Computing Teaching Assistant, Dean’s List (Fall 2021-Fall 2024)

Favorite Business Professor: My favorite professor at Tulane is David Thompson. With 30 years of experience on Wall Street and over $20 billion in equity offerings, his industry background brings a unique, real-world perspective to his teaching. Everything in his classes is directly applicable to what students can expect in the professional world.
Academic, extracurricular or personal achievement you're most proud of: I am most proud of my work as a teacher. I started my sophomore year as a teaching assistant for an Excel course I had excelled in, and I immediately took a liking to it. For two semesters, I primarily helped with homework, which was rewarding, but I wanted to be more involved.
That led me to a new role as a teaching assistant with greater responsibility, where I delivered weekly lectures on course content. I quickly built relationships with engaged students, and nothing made me happier than helping struggling students grasp difficult material. Seeing the relief my lectures brought to students with test anxiety was incredibly fulfilling.
Top items on professional bucket list: One of my students once suggested that I should come back to Tulane to teach, and the idea stuck with me. I don’t know exactly what that would look like, but after gaining industry experience, I would love to return to the classroom. Teaching was one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career—not only was it fulfilling, but it was also a lot of fun. The idea of introducing future students to industry relevant material and helping them develop real-world skills is something I’d love to be a part of again.
At some point, I’d love to be an angel investor or some kind of private investor. Working on deals with Tulane’s Venture Fund gave me a real appreciation for early-stage investing—not just the upside, but the impact it can have on founders trying to get their ideas off the ground. The idea of being the first to back a company, giving them the capital and support they need to take that next step, is something I find exciting. If I ever find myself in a position to do it, I’d jump at the opportunity.
Fun Fact: I was ranked in the state of Texas for competitive bass fishing.
