Isabella Hewitt (MBA '26)

Where did you intern and what was your title?

I interned at Empire Midstream, and they recruited me from Tulane. I had a finance and business development role.

In a few sentences, describe your responsibilities during the internship.

I supported Empire Midstream’s commercial and business development efforts by generating production forecasts, market insights, and financial analyses that informed pipeline acquisitions, equity transactions, and strategic proposals. My work strengthened deal valuations, improved decision-making around throughput and tariff risk, and helped assess the commercial feasibility of multiple midstream opportunities.

Can you share a memorable moment or experience from your internship that had a significant impact on your professional growth?

We took a field trip to Empire's terminal in Gibson, Louisiana, and we got to see how they unload oil from the vessels!

Were there any challenges or obstacles you faced during your internship? How did you overcome them?

I accepted the internship without having any prior experience in Oil & Gas. So, I took it upon myself to read books about the Oil & Gas industry, and I started following the energy markets. However, learning and mastering the Enverus software is what deepened my understanding of the deals I was working on.

How did your internship contribute to building your career? Did it lead to any valuable connections or opportunities?

This experience has led to many valuable opportunities and a decision to concentrate in Energy & Finance. Tulane's Energy Institute and my energy professors have connected us with so many people in the industry, and I have built relationships with a few of them.
