WVUE Fox 8: So how exactly in New Orleans losing millions putting on Carnival?
Mara Baumgarten Force, professor of practice in finance and a member of the city's Revenue Estimating Committee, was interviewed by WVUE-TV about the committee's finding that Mardi Gras generated a net loss of $3.7 million for the city in 2023.
“Unfortunately, the dollars that go directly to our city that provides all of the services for New Orleans to enjoy Mardi Gras … it’s just not enough to cover the costs,” Force said.
