Freeman welcomes six to faculty for 2026-27

Tulane University’s A. B. Freeman School of Business is pleased to announce the appointment of six full-time faculty members for the 2026-27 academic year. These appointments, effective July 1, represent a significant investment in the school’s research capability and teaching excellence.

“The addition of these distinguished scholars and practitioners represents an important step forward in our strategic efforts,” said Paulo Goes, Dean of the Freeman School. “By bringing in world-class researchers alongside outstanding young scholars and seasoned industry experts, we reinforce our commitment to high-impact research and exceptional, practice-based teaching. This cohort embodies the Freeman School’s mission to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world business challenges.”

Gus De Franco rejoins the Freeman School as the Keehn Berry Chair of Banking & Finance, Professor of Accounting, and Accounting Area Coordinator. He also joins the school’s leadership team as Senior Associate Dean for Research. A distinguished scholar, De Franco spent the past three years as the Emanuel T. Weiler Professor and Accounting Area Head at Purdue University’s Mitch Daniels School of Business. From 2016 to 2023, he served as the KPMG Professor of Accounting at Freeman. De Franco’s research interests include sell-side analysts, CFA charter holders, private firms’ accounting quality, relative valuation and firms’ choice of compensation peers. His scholarly articles have appeared in premier journals including the Journal of Accounting & Economics, Journal of Accounting Research and The Accounting Review, as well as the Journal of Financial Economics and Management Science. He has also served multiple terms as editor of Contemporary Accounting Research. His academic career includes appointments at leading institutions including the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and the MIT Sloan School of Management. De Franco holds a PhD from the Wharton School, an MBA from Harvard University, and an HBA from Western University. Prior to beginning his career in academia, he served as an equity research analyst at CIBC Capital Markets and a marketing product manager at Kraft Foods.

Mo Wang joins the faculty as the Seinsheimer Chair in Business and Professor of Management. Previously, he served as University Distinguished Professor and Lanzillotti-McKethan Eminent Scholar Chair at the University of Florida's Warrington College of Business, where he also held the titles of Associate Dean for Research and Strategic Initiatives, Department Chair of Management, and Director of the Human Resource Research Center. Wang’s research focuses on retirement and older worker employment, occupational health psychology, leadership and team processes, and advanced quantitative methodologies. A prolific scholar with more than 230 papers in peer-reviewed journals, Wang’s research has appeared in top-tier management and psychology publications including Academy of Management Journal, American Psychologist, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management, Organizational Research Methods, Organization Science, Psychological Bulletin and Psychological Methods. He is the founding editor-in-chief of Work, Aging and Retirement and serves as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Applied Psychology (2026–2032). Wang has received numerous awards for his research, including the Journal of Management Scholarly Impact Award, the Academy of Management (AOM) OB Division Cummings Scholarly Achievement Award, the SIOP William A. Owens Scholarly Achievement Award and the AOM HR Division Scholarly Achievement Award. He was elected Foreign Member of Academia Europaea in 2021 and inducted into the Florida Academy of Science, Engineering and Medicine in 2025. He is an elected Fellow of AOM, APA, APS and SIOP. Wang has briefed the U.S. Congress and served as an invited speaker for the White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team. His research has been featured by the BBC, New York Times, NPR, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal and Time Magazine, and he has delivered more than 90 keynotes across 17 countries. He holds a PhD and MA from Bowling Green State University and a BS from Peking University.

Min Young Lee joins the Freeman School as Assistant Professor of Management. Her research explores how workplace experiences shape people’s sense of self and influence the way they navigate work. A central aim of her research is to understand why some experiences leave people feeling more capable and self-assured while others lead them to question their value and contributions. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Applied Psychology and the Academy of Management Annals. Lee received a PhD in Management from the Scheller College of Business at the Georgia Institute of Technology, an MA in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University, and a BA in Psychology and Sociology from Emory University. Prior to joining Freeman, she served as a postdoctoral research associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Allyson Joy Heumann joins the Freeman School as a Professor of Practice in Management Science. She previously served as a Professor of Practice in the Strategy, Leadership, and Analytics Minor at Tulane’s School of Liberal Arts, where she taught courses in data analytics, the ethics of AI and entrepreneurship. Prior to that, she served as an Instructor of Finance at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. She began her career as an Equity Options and Index Equity Options Market Maker at Susquehanna Investment Group and is the founder of Allyson Heumann & Associates (AH&A), a global boutique consulting firm. Heumann holds a BA in Economics and an MBA in Finance from Tulane University as well as a Master of Accountancy from the University of Scranton. From 2008 to 2015, she published the Heumann Market Review, a financial markets literacy website aimed at demystifying capital markets for retail investors, and from 2012 to 2019, she served on the Steering Committee for the Professional Risk Management International Association. She previously held memberships at the Chicago Board Options Exchange, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Sarah Tanno is a Professor of Practice in Accounting. She previously served as an adjunct professor at the Freeman School as well as American University and the Catholic University of America. Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience in forensic accounting, auditing and tax, Tanno brings real-world experience into the classroom to make complex accounting concepts accessible and engaging. Her professional experience spans public accounting and federal government service, including roles with PwC, KPMG and the White House. Most recently, she led the forensic accounting program at the U.S. Department of Labor, overseeing complex financial investigations and providing forensic accounting expertise on some of the agency’s most challenging cases. A two-time Tulane alumna, Tanno earned both her undergraduate degree and Master of Accounting from Tulane University. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Bradley Warshauer joins the Freeman faculty as Professor of Practice in Management Communication after a decade serving as an adjunct lecturer at Tulane and elsewhere. A writer of fiction and nonfiction, Warshauer has published consistently since the release of his first novel when he was just seventeen. To the Freeman School he brings a near-lifetime of experience in written communication, publishing and marketing, and professional communication theory. His current research is focused on the growing area of narrative leadership. A New Orleans native, Warshauer holds a Master of Fine Arts from Adelphi University.

In addition to the tenure system and professor of practice appointments, the Freeman School also named six instructors to one-year visiting appointments.
