MBA classes travel to Paris and Beijing

The Freeman School isn't unique in having its MBA students read cases about multinational firms and global strategies. What is unique is having those students---all those students---travel overseas to visit the companies described in the cases and present their strategic recommendations directly to senior managers.

Freeman hosts IDEAcorps Challenge '09

Freeman ranked top 15 in finance

The Freeman School has been named one of the top 15 graduate business schools in finance by the Princeton Review. The ranking, based on a survey of MBA students, appears in the April 2009 issue of Entrepreneur magazine.

The Princeton Review contacted 19,000 MBA students attending 296 business schools to compile its "Student Opinion Honors for Business Schools" in six core areas: finance, accounting, general management, global management, marketing and operations. In the News: Elstrott addresses visiting graduate students

John Elstrott, clinical professor of business and executive director of the Freeman School's Levy-Rosenblum Institute for Entrepreneurship, was among the guest speakers to address 50 visiting graduate business students. The students are in New Orleans for the 2009 IDEAcorps Challenge, a program of local consulting firm the Idea Village that links business students from across the nation with entrepreneurial ventures in New Orleans.

Freeman students named PMF finalists

Freeman students Brigham Hall and Derek Little have been named as finalists in the Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) program. The program, coordinated by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, was established in 1977 to attract outstanding candidates from a variety of academic disciplines to federal service.

More than 5,000 graduate students from across the nation applied for the 2009 fellows program, and 786 were ultimately chosen as PMF finalists. As finalists, Hall and Little have been invited to participate in the PMF Class of 2009 Finalists Job Fair in Washington D.C....

Latin American Research Consortium meeting

On March 26-27, the Goldring Institute for International Business will host the 9th meeting of the Latin American Research Consortium. Approximately 30 deans from the top business schools in Latin America are expected to attend the dean's workshop session of the meeting and 20 to 30 scholars from Latin American business schools are expected participate in research workshops. Students take second place in portfolio competition

Freeman students Brigham Hall, Jan Roessler, Saurav Srivastav, Dash Yagaan and Jamil Bhatti took second place honors in the Portfolio Manager's Finalist Competition of the Texas Investment Portfolio Symposium (TIPS), hosted by Rice University's Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management. The competition, which took place on Feb. 21, is open to students involved with student-managed investment portfolios at universities across the Southwest. Congratulations to Chonchol Gupta (MBA '10), who was recently elected president of the Graduate Business Council for 2009-2010. Gupta graduated from University of California, Irvine with a BA in international studies and then earned a BS in civil engineering from West Virginia University. Prior to enrolling at the Freeman School, he was a graduate civil engineer with URS Corp. in Houston.

GradeUs announces marketing program with Sonic

GradeUs, a mobile marketing firm founded by Freeman alums Greg Woolverton (BSM '85, MBA '89) and Rob Mouton (BSM '85, MBA/JD '89), recently completed a text-based mobile marketing program at 10 Sonic stores in southwestern Louisiana.
