Diversity MBA Magazine names five alums to “Top 100 Under 50”

Diversity MBA Magazine has selected five alumni of the Freeman School for inclusion on its 2010 list of the “Top 100 Under 50 Diverse Executive & Emerging Leaders.” The list recognizes exceptional minority and multicultural executives—including African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, foreign nationals and women—who have achieved success in highly competitive corporate, government or entrepreneurial environments.

Freeman ranked 35th in the world by AméricaEconomía

In its latest ranking of global MBA programs, leading Latin American business magazine AméricaEconomía has ranked the Freeman School 35th internationally and 22nd among U.S. business schools. The ranking appears in the magazine's June 2010 issue.

Programs like the Global MBA—which brings together MBA students from Tulane and prestigious universities in Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela—have helped to elevate the Freeman School's reputation in Latin America.

Commencement ceremony celebrates a return to normalcy

This year’s Freeman School commencement ceremony was nothing special, and according to Dean Angelo DeNisi, that’s what made it special indeed.

Burkenroad Conference spotlights recovery

At last year’s Burkenroad Reports Investment Conference, 33 of the 34 companies that presented posted negative returns for the preceding 12 months. This year, 28 of 33 companies posted positive returns, including top performer Stone Energy, which generated a total return of 337.89 percent for the year.

On April 17, the Office of Graduate Admissions hosted its third annual International Advisers Seminar. Participating in this year’s event were advisers from Kaplan (Mexico), MBA Empresarial (Brazil), The Point (Brazil), Colfuturo (Colombia), the Grad School (Colombia) and EducationUSA (Chile).

Students team up for New Orleans Entrepreneur Week

Jack and Jake’s Local and Organic Market is a new business that plans to bring locally grown food to customers in underserved neighborhoods within three days of harvest, but to achieve that goal, the company first needs a top-notch distribution system.

Freeman hosts 14th annual Finance Case Competition

MBA students from Freeman and seven other top-ranked business schools competed for $10,000 in cash prizes at the 14th annual Rolanette and Berdon Lawrence Finance Case Competition.

This year's competition, which took place on March 19 in Goldring/Woldenberg Hall II, featured teams from Tulane, Emory, Rice, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of South Carolina, University of Texas at Austin, Washington University and Vanderbilt.

Record attendance highlights Freeman Days New Orleans

This year’s Freeman Days New Orleans recruiting and networking event broke records for both corporate participation and alumni involvement.

More than 60 alumni attended this year's Freeman Days New Orleans Networking Reception.

Freeman Days kicked off on Thursday, March 11, with the annual alumni networking reception. More than 150 people attended this year’s event, which gives students the opportunity to mix and mingle with both alumni and corporate recruiters. Energy summit aims to spur mutidisciplinary research

Since 2008, the Freeman School and the School of Science & Engineering have been collaborating on research into the production and utilization of next generation fuels for clean power, including butanol from sugar cane waste products, but according to Geoff Parker, more research is needed.

Freeman mourns the death of Douglas Schantz

March 12, 2010

Douglas N. Schantz, president of Sequent Energy Management, died tragically in New Orleans on March 5 after apparently falling accidentally into the Mississippi River.

Schantz, who served on the board of the Tulane Energy Institute, had been in New Orleans to present a gift of $25,000 to the institute as well as award two scholarships to Freeman students seeking careers in the energy industry.
