Fox 8 News: Decline in brick and mortar stores affects jobs

John Healey, assistant professor of marketing at Tulane University’s A. B. Freeman School of Business, was interviewed by WVUE-TV's Fox 8 News for a story about the loss of jobs due to a decline in retail shopping. Healey told reporter Sabrina Wilson that increased online shopping has led national chains such as Macy's, Sears and J.C. Penney to shutter stores, but he doesn't expect online shopping to completely replace retail shopping any time soon.
There's still going to be brick and mortar retail stores. Over the long term, I'm a little bit less sure of that, but over the short term, there definitely is going to be, but I think that the footprint is going to shrink. Instead of having two or three major retail malls or retail shopping centers, maybe you need only one in an area now.
