The National Desk: High percentage of Americans have more credit card debt than emergency savings
Amanda Heitz, assistant professor of finance, was interviewed by The National Desk for a story about growing credit card debt and what consumers can do to prevent that debt from growing futher.
Heitz recommends keeping, at the very least, a small emergency fund, so that if something does happen, you don't go more into debt.
"Try to just save $500-$1,000 and what that $500-$1,000 is going to do is going to keep you from putting those emergency expenses on that credit card," said Heitz.
