The Current: Will Lake Charles area refineries benefit from Trump's Venezuela takeover?
Eric Smith, professor of practice and associate director of the Tulane Energy Institute, was interviewed by The Current about the potential impact of President Trump's takeover of Venezuela on Louisiana's refining industry.
“We’re bringing in today about 200,000 barrels a day, maybe a little more, from Venezuela, largely because of the Chevron presence,” Smith says. “That’s kind of a drop in the bucket. It’s enough to, you know, probably support two or three of our refineries, but we’ve got 15 just in Louisiana.”
