Bloomberg Tax: Next EY CEO’s Tall Order: Heal Rifts, Fix Consulting Conflicts

Christine Smith, senior professor of practice in accounting, was interviewed by Bloomberg Tax for a story about the search to replace EY Global Chairman and CEO Carmine Di Sibio, whose plan to spin off the firm’s consulting business and much of its tax practice into a standalone public company met with resistance from partners and generated deep rifts within the company.
“This next decision of leadership is going to be super-important for them,” Smith said. EY’s new leader shouldn’t be someone identified as either a major opponent or advocate of the split, but be able to find a middle ground, she said.
