Tulane University’s A. B. Freeman School of Business is pleased to announce the appointment of Brent Rosen as assistant dean of corporate relations and Carla Coury as executive director of the Career Management Center.

The appointments, announced by Freeman School Dean Paulo Goes, were effective July 1.

In this newly created role, Rosen will work with Dean Goes to define and implement the Freeman School’s corporate engagement strategy, including building a broader and deeper network of corporate partners, developing new opportunities for collaboration and experiential learning projects, and coordinating with the Freeman School’s Career Management Center to engage corporate sponsors and recruiters. Rosen will also work closely with the Office of Advancement to ensure that the school’s corporate engagement strategy aligns with and supports the school’s fundraising and development efforts.

Prior to joining the Freeman School, Rosen served four years as president and CEO of the National Food and Beverage Foundation, directing all development, programming, communications and operations of the foundation, including the Southern Food and Beverage Museum (SoFAB) and the Museum of the American Cocktail. Prior to that, Rosen was director of business development for BRG Hospitality/BRG Disaster Solutions, a digital content strategist for Hoffman Media, president of FIXR Media, and a lobbyist and attorney for the law firm Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell, and Berkowitz. Rosen holds a Bachelor of Arts in political economy from Tulane University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law.

Coury joined the Freeman School’s Career Management Center in 2019 as director of operations and was named interim executive director in June 2022. In her new permanent role, Coury will oversee a team of more than 20 career consultants and supporting staff charged with helping 3,000 Freeman students achieve their professional goals. Prior to joining the Freeman School, Coury served as interim director and senior student and employer advisor with Tulane Career Services. Her experience in higher education includes roles in continuing and professional education and corporate and community education at Lewis and Clark Community College, and she was previously executive director of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses initiative in the Gulf South Region based at Delgado Community College

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Workforce Education, Training & Development and a master’s degree in speech and organizational communication from Southern Illinois University.

“Dramatically expanding our network of corporate partners and significantly enhancing job opportunities for students are two of the foundational goals of our recently announced five-year strategic plan,” said Dean Paulo Goes. “Brent and Carla bring to the Freeman School extensive experience in their respective areas and proven records of accomplishment, so I couldn’t be more excited to work with them to implement our strategic plan and help build an even stronger A. B. Freeman School of Business.”
