ABC News: Soaring CEO pay commands spotlight in UAW strike against Big 3 US automakers

Lisa LaViers, assistant professor of accounting, was interviewed by ABC News for a story on CEO compensation and the United Auto Workers strike. The UAW alleges that Big 3 CEOs received a combined 40% increase in compensation over the last four years compared with just a 6% percent increase for autoworkers during that time.
“When it’s the case that they’re seeing their CEO — who obviously doesn’t make the cars — benefit from their physical manual labor at a higher rate than they’re benefitting from it, you can understand how that hurts,” LaViers added.
