Name: Kaymah Joseph
Hometown: Roseau, Dominica
Program: Master of Business Analytics
Post Graduation Plans: I’m currently seeking full-time opportunities as an analyst in market research as well as the legal industry. My goal is to work in a role that allows me to leverage my analytical abilities while gaining deeper insights into market trends and legal strategies. I’m excited to explore opportunities where I can contribute to solving complex problems and continue growing professionally in these dynamic fields.
Favorite Business Course: Applied Machine Learning with Yatish Hegde. This course was incredibly valuable as it taught me how to apply machine learning techniques to real-world business problems, not just the theoretical aspects. Professor Hegde did a great job at helping us develop the ability to build and deploy machine learning models, which has made me more efficient in deriving insights from data and delivering impactful solutions to business problems. The focus on building interactive applications using Python and other data analysis platforms was both challenging and rewarding, giving me valuable skills for the future.
Favorite Business Professor: Osman Kazan. I truly admire his passion and his ability to keep students engaged throughout the course. He always finds ways to relate the material to real-world business challenges, which helps us see the practical applications of what we're learning. My favorite hands-on project was the March Madness simulation assignment in his Advanced Spreadsheet Modeling class. Professor Kazan’s overall enthusiasm has left a lasting impression on my academic journey.
Academic, extracurricular or personal achievement you're most proud of: One of the achievements I’m most proud of was attending the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) Career Expo in Washington, D.C. It was an incredible opportunity to sharpen my networking skills and to connect with top companies like Estée Lauder and Coca Cola. Preparing for and participating in the event allowed me to represent myself and Freeman confidently, and have meaningful conversations with professionals from across the country.
Most important thing you learned at Freeman: The most important thing I learned at Freeman was the value of putting yourself out there and taking advantage of every opportunity that comes your way. Whether it was networking with alumni, seeking out internships, or participating in career conferences, Freeman taught me that growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone.
Favorite New Orleans Memory: My favorite memory has to be stumbling upon a second line wedding parade on Frenchmen Street for the first time - it was such a spontaneous and unforgettable experience that perfectly captured the spirit of New Orleans.
