Tenley Gorman (MANA '25)
Name: Tenley Gorman
Hometown: Manhattan Beach, California
Program: Master of Business Analytics
Post Graduation Plans: I’ll be continuing to grow my startup, Tipzy, a music-focused nightlife platform. In addition, I’ll be joining the pre-sales team at Impact.com as an Associate Business Value Engineer, where I’ll focus on strategic value mapping for enterprise clients.
Favorite Business Course: Applied Machine Learning with Yatish Hegde. This course pushed me to think beyond the expected output and instead explore the deeper question: how are people actually going to interact with your product? What you build is never exactly how it ends up being used—and that pivot point is where real insights live.
Favorite Business Professor: Yatish Hegde. His approach to teaching fundamentally shifted the way I solve problems—not just in the classroom, but in life. He taught me that any challenge, no matter how complex, can be tackled if you break it down into clear, manageable steps. That mindset has become essential to how I work and think.
Academic, extracurricular or personal achievement you're most proud of: Building my startup, Tipzy, and taking it from an idea to a functioning platform with real users. I strengthened my product development skills, improved how I sell, and learned how to navigate early-stage growth. We’ve won multiple pitch competitions, but the biggest win has been learning how to sell to strangers.
Most important thing you learned at Freeman: The most valuable lesson I’ve taken from Freeman is that resourcefulness and initiative matter more than waiting for the perfect moment. The Lepage Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation empowered me to turn ideas into action—and that shift in mindset has opened more doors than I could have anticipated.
Favorite New Orleans Memory: Jazz Fest. There’s no better snapshot of the city’s energy than being surrounded by music, food, and people who are genuinely excited to be exactly where they are.
