Symposium highlights emerging technologies

Research shows that just a tiny percentage of technological innovations cross over to mainstream success, but that doesn't stop entrepreneurs, inventors, scientists, corporations, investors and governments from pumping millions of dollars into emerging technologies in an effort to discover the next big thing.

The 17th Annual Burkenroad Symposium will take place Friday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m. in the Lavin-Bernick Center's Kendall Cram Lecture Hall.

Freeman ranked 61st in world in latest Financial Times survey

In its latest ranking of global MBA programs, the Financial Times has ranked the Freeman School 61st in the world and 35th in the U.S. The ranking appears in the newspaper's Jan. 25, 2010, issue.

Freeman was most recently ranked 80th in the world and 46th among U.S. programs in the 2008 Financial Times global MBA ranking, the last time Freeman was included in the survey.

TEA kicks off 10th annual Tulane Business Plan Competition

As the Tulane Entrepreneurs Association (TEA) hits a 10-year milestone with its annual Business Plan Competition, the group is shaking things up by more than doubling the prize money and shifting focus to the virtues of "conscious capitalism."

The deadline to apply for the 2010 Tulane Business Plan Competition is Feb. 1.

Executive MBA program ranked among top 25 in U.S.

The Freeman School jumped seven spots in the latest Financial Times ranking of executive MBA programs. Freeman's EMBA program is now ranked 64th in the world and 22nd among U.S. programs.

Freeman to host first energy trading competition

The Freeman School has earned a national reputation in recent years for its use of cutting-edge technology to teach energy trading. Next month, Freeman takes another step toward establishing itself as one of the nation's leading institutions for the study of energy with the first Tulane Energy Trading Competition.

Diversity expert to speak on women and ambition

Jennifer W. Allyn, a managing director in the Office of Diversity for PricewaterhouseCoopers, will discuss women and ambition in a special interactive lecture co-sponsored by the Louisiana Chapter of the International Women's Forum.

"A Candid Conversation About Women and Ambition" will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 12 noon in Room 131 of Goldring/Woldenberg Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public, and a reception with food and refreshments will follow.
