Evan Christenson (MBA '26)
Where did you intern and what was your title?
I interned at Nashville Predators and was a Business Strategy Intern.
How did you approach the internship search process, and what strategies did you find effective?
I first focused on networking by attending career events and conducting informational interviews. While those conversations were helpful for refining my approach, I found success through cold applying with a tailored resume and cover letter for this role. Consistently applying, tracking applications, and iterating my application materials proved to be an effective strategy.
In a few sentences, describe your responsibilities during the internship.
During my internship, I supported day-to-day projects by performing data analysis and executing on longer-term process improvement projects. ETL, budget modeling, dashboarding, and SQL querying were all a part of my responsibilities there.
Can you share a memorable moment or experience from your internship that had a significant impact on your professional growth?
One memorable experience was being trusted to take ownership of a project analyzing our premium seating programs. I was able to combine qualitative and quantitative data to develop a narrative that reinforced positives aspects of the programs while also delivering critical insights that were actionable and would improve the programs going forward.
Were there any challenges or obstacles you faced during your internship? How did you overcome them?
A major challenge was getting up to speed in an industry that has to balance coordinating concerts and events year-round and planning for the upcoming hockey season. I overcame this by proactively prioritizing workflows and anticipating future needs and asks.
How did your internship contribute to building your career? Did it lead to any valuable connections or opportunities?
The internship helped me refine my career interests and build practical, transferable skills such as knowing how to pitch projects and develop narratives when reporting on technical data analysis. The experience allowed me to form meaningful connections with my mentor and teammates, who have since become valuable professional references.
