Headshot of Jacob Walton

Jacob Walton

An MD/MBA candidate combining clinical healthcare experience with business training and demonstrated leadership, bringing an analytical, adaptable approach to healthcare management and strategic decision-making.

Undergraduate Institution:
Madison Area Technical College for my associate degree. University of Wisconsin at Madison for my Bachelor of Science.

Fun fact about yourself:
I'm a certified Yoga Instructor. I taught a Vinyassa Power flow class prior to attending graduate school.

Work experience you're most proud of:
Being the freshman high school football head coach.

Why did you want to pursue an MBA:
I am pursuing my MBA because I believe that in America, understanding the business side of healthcare will empower me to be a better practicing clinician. Additionally, administrative work would enable me to help improve care systemically in addition to one-on-one patient interaction.

Why did you choose Freeman:
Freeman has a combined degree with Tulane School of Medicine and offers strong financial assistance. People speak very highly of the network of Freeman alumni.

Where do you want to be in five years:
I want to be a resident physician who is engaged with our administration department on quality improvement projects, implementation of new processes and possibly aiding start-ups in achieving their goals.

What do you like to do in your spare time:
I love playing sports, like basketball and football, with my friends. I walk frequently in City Park, Audubon Park and along the lakefront during sunsets. I like to grab coffee at one of the many spots around town or try new restaurants. I like shadowing at clinics. I also love to do projects, whether it's landscaping, hanging a shelf or assembling a fixture. Oh, and thrifting is a blast as well.
