WVUE Fox 8: Entergy says set your thermostat to 78° this summer to save money

Eric Smith, professor of practice in management science and associate director of the Tulane Energy Institute, was interviewed by WVUE-TV Fox 8 for a story about the impact of soaring summer temperatures on Louisiana’s power grid. Smith said Louisiana developed its grid to meet the electricity needs of the state’s heavy industrial users, which far exceed those of retail customers. While some states are warning residents of the possibility of rolling blackouts, Smith said Louisiana has the capacity to meet surging demand.
“I think Louisiana is probably going to complain a lot because that’s what we do, but the fact of the matter is if you spent time analyzing other parts of the country, they have far far worse problems with power supply than we do.”
